About Global Hydrogen Ltd.
The private development company established to help “launch” the ‘Hydrogen Revolution.
Knowing full well all technology has existed to convert to a hydrogen-fueled economy for at least
the past decade, and knowing such a transition was being resisted by fossil fuel / nuclear
industries who perceived a hydrogen transition to be both costly and a “threat” to their own
vested interests, a group of educators, scientists and entrepreneurs centered around former
Disney Engineers, UNLV, & other University Professors, began to conceive a way to “Launch the
Hydrogen Revolution.”
Also included in this group were investment bankers / financial strategists, and Russell Voorhees
who became (is) the chief coordinator and contributor.
Voorhees also became the initiator of the incorporation of Global Hydrogen Ltd. as a Nevada
corporation, and has been a principal investor during its development stage.
The financial / business plan was developed in recognition there was no company in existence,
independent of fossil fuel related companies that did not have considerable vested interests, and
major investments in the “status-quo” to protect. It was determined a new independent company
must be created, capable of attracting large investments of capital, expecting that such a
company could become a multi-billion dollar sales company within a matter of a few years.
• Reality is, all combustion engine driven vehicles on the road can be converted to run on
hydrogen. The technology is available, and available to Global. The conversion will require vast
sums of capital, and a national refueling plan, as well as investment to vastly increase hydrogen
production (from a multitude of solar driven, biomass & fossil fuel sources) and profitable
sequestration of carbon by-products of fossil and other energy source fuels, for use in “higher-
value” products, instead of spewing them into the air as pollutants. Global has identified a very
considerable pool of talent. When a credible financial base for the company is in place, and
publicity begins to become available on the planned “Demonstration Corridor” –--planned to run
between Denver, Colorado & Los Angeles, via Las Vegas, substantially along the old Route #66
corridor, but following existing Interstate Highways, then the development of hydrogen refueling,
combustion engine conversion technologies, and refueling / hydrogen generation facilities will
rapidly expand across the nation.
Our “hydrogen revolution group” centered around Global Hydrogen, the “Disney Graduate”
engineering group (Entertainment Engineering Inc.,) and UNLV (University of Nevada, Las Vegas)
received considerable publicity in 2002 for the proposed demonstration corridor. We were “quietly
invited” to submit an ‘unsolicited’ R & D Grant proposal / request in the approximate amount of
$10 million, jointly to DOD & DOE by Federal Administration sources.
The R&D proposal was prepared and informally submitted to the DOE. It calls for the construction
of approximately 20 hydrogen refueling stations along the 1500 mile corridor, the conversion of
1,000 passenger vehicles, 100 freight trucks and 100 passenger buses to operate on hydrogen,
to operate along this corridor, with a considerable number of passenger vehicles to be made
available for ‘rental’ at major airports along the corridor, to allow a driving experience by many
people.
The ‘2nd year’ phase called for the development of a National Refueling Plan.
The R&D proposal was prepared and submitted in 2003, but action was quickly “neutralized” by
fossil fuel company driven interests, such that no action has materialized to date.
(Shortly after President Bush proposed to commit $1.3 bil. to hydrogen research in his 2003 State
of the Union address, at least $1 bil. of this proposed funding was quickly garnered, and
absorbed by oil company / Detroit sources, to assure hydrogen was put far into the future. This
was also at a time when the Administration still believed they would have a rapid victory in Iraq
and be ‘flowing’ 5 million barrels of oil from Iraq by the end of 2004.)
• The Office of the Governor in Nevada has now taken on the challenge of championing the
Demonstration Corridor to the other four affected states’ Governors and related political entities.
It is expected progress on this effort will be evident shortly.
• The financial plan of Global calls for several million in investment by the incorporators, followed
by an initial venture capital infusion of $5 mil., followed by a $20 mil. stage (after certain progress
has been made), then followed by a $100 mil. capital placement stage, and then having an initial
IPO for the company, hopefully within two years, to involve the public in this hydrogen conversion
opportunity. (It was concluded we should follow the financing paradigms of such major ‘paradigm
shifting’ companies as Microsoft, Control Data, and others involved with technical / innovative
transitions.)
• It was determined Global Hydrogen Ltd. must display sufficient financial ‘clout’ and connections,
such that we could overcome the inevitable ‘disinformation’ barrage and resistance we must
expect from the fossil fuel and nuclear industries, whose “territories” we expect to invade. There
are many advanced technologies available that can be acquired along with key people, given the
opportunity to use stock of a public company for such acquisitions.
• It is believed key personnel from within major oil companies can be expected to “jump-ship” and
join the much-needed transition to hydrogen fuels, to be led by Global Hydrogen Ltd. It is
believed many of these people are frustrated by the oil company’s practices of acquiring /
developing hydrogen technologies and ‘withholding’ them from public use until a future time, most
financially advantageous to the fossil fuel industries.
A multi-billion dollar sales company within the matter of a few years will be the financial result. Oil
independence and a cleaner environment will be the ‘by-products’ of the endeavor. Global is
intended to become the leader in the transition to a hydrogen- fueled economy.
